The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is a globally recognized and highly regarded senior secondary school leaving certificate, known for its flexible and credit-based system. The most significant advantage of the OSSD lies in its emphasis on individual autonomy and flexibility in course selection.
To earn the OSSD diploma, students need a minimum of 30 credits, which are divided into two categories: compulsory and elective courses. The compulsory courses, such as English, Mathematics, Science, and History, account for 18 credits. Additionally, students must complete 12 credits from a wide range of elective courses, encompassing subjects like Science, Art, and Social Science. Students will also have to finish 40 hours of community involvement.
